The Story

Back in the mid 90’s the the owners of Helmetek had a Car Audio/Video company that was building A/V systems in anything that would move.  We got hooked up with a great guy by the name of Richard Buck. Back then Richard was a Crew Chief for Penske Racing.  We built Richard a killer A/V system in his Jeep Grand Cherokee.  Richard was so impressed with the attention to detail and some of the super creative things we did with the electronics and wiring in the car that he asked us if we were open to doing some custom fabrication work for him and his race team.  Richard then moved over to the MCI Arciero Wells Team with “Mad” Max Papis and Christiano Da Matta.

We started out building custom Momo stearing wheels for him first.  We modified them to accomidate a box with rev limiter lights and grear indicator LED display.  Little did we know at the time that 5 years down the road the teams would be paying 50k for something similar  but with a little more flair, we may have taken it a little more serious.  We also rebuilt the Transporters for the team as well, changing out the drives locker area’s and all kinds of other fun stuff.

That is when we were asked to come up with some form of a helmet dryer.  The rest is history.  Below it the very first version we released to the team.  It worked but the current version is much more efficient.  We have another version on the drawing board, but the production is still some time out as we are still in the R&D mode.
